The move is afoot (not a hand) to defund PBS/NPR and there is resistance to it from the usual places, including old line conservatives who fear it will only make them mad. The claim is they receive 2% of their funding from the government. Is that so?
The fact is they only give 2% DIRECTLY to NPR/PBS but they fund them through the backdoor.
Here is an article that explains how it actually works.
From the article:
Through this complicated, bureaucratic payment system, NPR receives station fees that typically account for 40 percent of its annual budget (perhaps a bit less in recent years). Considering that NPR has an operating budget of about $300 million, we’re talking about more than $100 million a year.
Again, this may not make a massive dent in the federal deficit, but few would deny there’s something unseemly about taxpayers ponying up their hard-earned dollars so NPR can pay hosts $500,000 salaries.
The First Amendment states in part:
Yet how is it that they fund a media outlet in direct competition with private media and not think that essentially violates abridging the freedom of the press?By it's very nature it is NOT a free press. This is picking winners and losers. Government money always comes with strings.
Oh wait; they have USAID to fund the rest of the liberal media!

I caught National Security Adviser Mike Waltz on Meet the Press this morning. He was asked a series of questions, all of which had "gotchA" potential and Waltz was smart enough to filibuster and avoid many of the traps, and he aquitted himself well. But there are things I would have said. Here's the gist:
Kristen Welker asked Waltz if Musk had any business auditing the Pentagon since he has done business wiht them. Waltz hemmed and hawed a lot, pivoting to the accomplishments of Trump. But I would have answered this "who cares?" What Mr. Musk is doing is AUDITING these agencies. He himself is cutting nothing and Trump can choose not to take his advice any time. And Musk is not REDIRCTING any money - merely recommending cuts. He has no conflict of interest because he isn't influencing how the money is spent, just how much of it.
This argument is rather like saying a priest cannot do marriage counseling since he isn't married, and suggesting it's improper because the priest might have a vested interest in getting the couple divorced so he can jump the woman. It's a ridiculous argument.
She moved on to USAID and pushed the shibboleth that foreign policy is dependent on it and that the world is safer for America by it. Waltz pointed out the waste but failed to mention details - like attempts to create transgender mice, or funding drag shows, or a host of other things that would disgust Americans to the core. And he failed to mention that USAID was funding media outlets and more of that appears all the time. Probably NBC, home of Meet the Press as well.
And I would point out USAID was funding the NGO's that have facilitated the invasion of America by illegal aliens. I would have pointed out that USAID helped facilitate revolutions around the world, some which have come back to bite us (like in Ukraine). Waltz did mention the Taliban - and he should have stressed how the Taliban got USAID money as has no doubt Hamas.
And I would have pointed out the Democrats who are howling about this probably had money laundered back to them from USAID.
She moved on to the Palestinians and complained about Trump's plan. Waltz defended it well enough, but he should have pointed out that nobody WANTS to resolve the situation there and that we have to go it alone because everyone else wants this thing to burn on. (Her main complaint was Trump was disregarding international institutions and other governments.) I would point out that NOTHING we have done up to now has fixed anything there.
She spoke about Canada and Trump's idea of annexing them. Waltz said many Canadians would love to be annexed, and that is no doubt true. But I would have pointed out WHY they wanted to be annexed and why it would be in our interests to annex them (I don't think it is but he represents the Administration, after all.) I would mention socialized medicine and explain the Canadians would love to have a free medical system where they could actually receive treatment when they are sick.
She got into the gotcha game, insisting on "yes or no" on a series of policy questions and Waltz explained he wasn't going to answer them. She insisted and he refused, making HIM look like he was ducking when in fact she knew full well he couldn't answer questions of policy that is as yet undecided by the President.
He did well enough, but I wish our side would come prepared to smack back at these jerks. They need access to draw viewers and we can dictate things to them - like a list of questions in advance.
I was a Boy Scout and our motto was "always be prepared". Republicans need to do likewise.

As everyone probably is aware Donald Trump fired the head of the National Archives and the average low information voter will be quite puzzled by this. But certainly Aviary readers remember what she did; she pretended to be working with former President Trump on the return of documents (documents he had every right to keep) and she was setting the stage for the raid by the FBI on Trump's home all along.
What happened was the Archives sent PALLETS of documents to Trump and Trump had to go through all of them - huge numbers. Then when it took too long the Government Service Administration brought in the DOJ and sent the raid - and in the process tampered with evidence. This led to the Jack Smith investigations of Trump. It was a purely political move, a black op style action by this despicable woman - Colleen Shogun.
So Trump is rightly dismissing her from her post; you cannot have someone who plots against you in a position of authority, no matter how seemingly benign.

Donald Trump has revoked Joe Biden's security clearance so the senile snake from the swamp will no longer be given classified information.
Why not? He was not charged for mishandling and possessing classified documents from his time as Vice President and even Senator because he was too old and senile, according to the special prosecutor. If he can't be charged then he can't be given sensitive information, no?
Frankly the real danger is Obama and Hillary Clinton keeping their clearances. I hope Trump finds a way to cut both of them out as well.
BTW does anyone remember that Joe Biden cancelled Donald Trump's security clearance after HE left office? Interestingly enough when I searched for a link for that on Google there was nothing; had to go to Bing for it, and had to scroll through over eight pages to find it. The average person isn't going to do that, nor remember it. This is censorship of the news by the tech giants at it's most odorous. See here and here for the only two articles I could find on either search engine.

17 state attorneys general are coming after Anthony Fauci after Joe Biden's infamous pardon of the man who gave us Covid.
A Presidential pardon is only good for Federal charges; the pardonee is still subject to state prosecutions.
Fauci skirted U.S. law by funding gain-of-function research in China, research that likely led to the creation of Covid 19 and the pandemic. He also tried to cover it up using his official position, and accepted millions of dollars from pharmaceutical companies in the process, growing quite rich.
This was the biggest fraud and mass murder in history and Fauci was the lynchpin.

I have been racking my brain trying to remember who judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly is, what she did. I remember the name, and remember she was a huge liberal, and appointed by Bill Clinton. But now I know.
Kollar-Kotelly (women with hyphenated last names are usually big liberals) was the woman who sent an 85 year old abortion protester to federal prison despite her ill health and mocked her as she sent the poor thing up the river.
This is the judge who just blocked DOGE from obtaining records to expenditures of the Treasury Department.
When sentencing poor Paulette Harlow this dirtbag in black taunted her husband:
After sentencing 75-year-old Paulette Harlow to two years in jail, Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly quipped about the elderly pro-lifer’s husband’s concern that she might die in prison. Kollar-Kotelly commented that she hopes Harlow will "make an effort to remain alive” because that is a "tenet of [Harlow’s] religion,” according to LiveAction.
On May 31, in a federal Washington, D.C. court, Kollar-Kotelly sentenced Harlow to two years in jail and 36 months of supervised release for protesting at a notorious late-term abortion clinic in Washington, D.C. with eight others.
John Harlow, Paulette’s husband, spoke in court before the sentencing about his concerns for his wife’s declining health and his fear that she might die in prison.
"In my heart, I think she’s having a hard time staying alive,” John said, according to LiveAction. "We’ve tried to be good people,” he later added. "I love my wife dearly… We’re throwing ourselves on the mercy of the court.”
In November 2023, Paulette was convicted of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and of "conspiracy against civil rights.”
In May 2024, Paulette’s eight co-defendants were also sentenced to various lengths of time in prison followed by supervised release. On May 14, Harlow’s co-defendant Lauren Handy was sentenced to almost five years in prison."

That's Progressive "compassion" in a nutshell - it only applies to leftist activists. There is none for those with whom they disagree.
How many Black Lives Matter rioters got shorter sentences for worse?
Heck, Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury, the man who bombed the pro-life office in Wisconsin only got seven years. That was for actually firebombing a place with malice aforethought. The pro-life protesters were simply standing about and praying - the MONSTERS!
This judge needs to be unseated and kept away from any sort of responsible position. She is exactly what is wrong with America, activists pretending to be statesmen.

Trump has fired several members of the board of trustes at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and has named himself chairman.
After funding drag shows and other such abominations President Machete has decided to take an ax to the rotten tree:
"I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture,”
Biden's lesbian Haitian spokeschick Karine Jean-Pierre is a current board member and seems a likely candidate to be axed (and not a question).

Pam Bondi is creating a weaponization working group to investigate the weaponization of government at all levels by the previous administration {s}.
The group will investigate:
* "Weaponization by Special Counsel Jack Smith and his staff, who spent more than $50 million targeting President Trump, and the prosecutors and law enforcement personnel who participated in the unprecedented raid on President Trump’s home.
* Federal cooperation with the weaponization by the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, New York Attorney General Letitia James, their respective staffs, and other New York officials to target President Trump, his family, and his businesses.
* The pursuit of improper investigative tactics and unethical prosecutions relating to events at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021 — as distinct from good-
faith actions by federal employees simply following orders from superiors — which diverted resources from combating violent and serious crime and thus, were pursued at the expense of the safety of residents of the District of Columbia.
* The January 23, 2023, memorandum in which the Federal Bureau of Investigation suggested that certain Catholic religious practices were affiliated with violent extremism and criminal activity.
* Justice Department guidance, policy memoranda, and practices concerning the investigation of parents of school children who expressed sincere, good-faith concerns at local government meetings, including the October 4, 2021 memorandum of former Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding these issues.
* Criminal prosecutions under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act for non-violent protest activity.
* The retaliatory targeting, and in some instances criminal prosecution, of legitimate whistleblowers.”

In the Democrat go-to play, a judge has jut blocked DOGE access to the Treasury Department financial records. The Democrats are desperately trying to hid what they've been doing all these years and to slow the Trump juggernaut down.
According to the Blaze:
U.S. District Court Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly said that the DOGE workers could only have "read-only" access to the data at the Treasury Department after the unions' attorneys argued that they were violating privacy statutes.
The unions are being represented by the Public Citizen Litigation Group and the State Democracy Defenders Fund.
How do records on how the Treasury Department spends money violate the privacy of labor union members? For that matter how did these unions even have standing to file?
You can read between the lines:
30
Which means Treasury has been giving money to people who have no right to that money.
It is impossible to do an audit without actually seeing what is being spent.
This judge knows this, which is why he put the hold on the work of DOGE in the first place.
The 81 year old judge was appointed in 1997 by Bill Clinton and she has been a reliably leftist jurist throughout her tenure of office. She is the prime example of an activist judge.
I suspect she will be overturned on appeal but it buys time for the Treasury to cover it's tracks.

Gotta Love this.
On Thursday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said he directed Israel's defense forces to draw up "a plan that will allow any resident of Gaza who wishes to leave to do so, to any country willing to receive them." He said the army would provide "exit options via land crossings, as well as special arrangements for departure by sea and air."
Countries "such as Spain, Ireland, Norway, and others" that have accused Israel of disproportionate attacks on civilians and violations of laws governing war "are legally obligated to allow Gazans to enter their territory," he wrote on X."
Let's see if they are willing to put their money where their mouths have run.
BTW the article mentions that it is considered a war-crime to "forcibly displace civilians" but what of a situation like this, where there essentially are no civilians? This isn't a war by an army, but a terrorist operation and Palestine is but a military base, the whole fetid country and it's hateful people. If you classify them as irregulars you get around the law.

Another bureaucrat is refusing to leave after Trump firing.
Trump moves to fire FEC chair, but she's refusing to leave - USA Today
The Democratic Commissioner of the FEC - Ellen Weintraub - has simply refused the order to vacate. This is the SECOND bureaucrat who has been fired by Trump and refused to leave. The head of the USDA had to be bodily removed from office after Trump sacked him.
I thought Democrats were all about "democracy" and the will of the People, yet they seem reticent about actually accepting the consequences of democratic elections.
And remember the actting head of the FBI simply refused to hand over a list of names of people who worked on the J6 political prosecutions.
These people are truly desperate; they stepped WAY over the line and now fear facing the music.
The head of the FEC serves at the Presiden't pleasure and she has no leg to stand on. So why go to the mat now? No doubt because she wants to keep hidden some of the things she and her pals have been doing to steal elections for the Democrats.
